One-Day International Workshop on Tunnel Construction Practices in the Himalaya
Department of Civil Engineering, Kathmandu University conducted a ‘One-Day International Workshop on Tunnel Construction Practices in the Himalaya’ on May 18, 2019. The workshop was organized in collaboration with Seoul National University (SNU), Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), and Hydro Tunnelling and Research Pvt. Ltd. (HTR) as a part of knowledge sharing between professionals and academicians. The program was organized in association with International Society for Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering (ISRM) and Nepal Society of Rock Mechanics (NSRM). The program was supported by Energize Nepal, Kathmandu University.
The workshop invited professionals from international and national platforms. There were around fifty participants in the workshop with participants from Norway, Korea, and Germany. Keynote lectures were delivered by Prof. Krishna Kanta Panthi from NTNU and Prof. Seokwon Jeon from SNU. Similarly, technical presentations were delivered from professional and experts working in the field of design and construction of tunnels.
